Details: Ken has been a massage therapist since 1993 and has been involved in health care since 1988. Becoming a massage therapist was actually supposed to be a part of Ken's original plan of becoming a physical therapist. While working full time as a physical therapy aide and aquatic therapy coordinator for Health South, he realized that a few of the courses he needed at UT were only offered during the work day. He realized he needed more flexibility in his schedule to accomplish his goal of becoming a physical therapist.
So, while still working full time, he attended classes full time in a massage therapy school across town. Once classes were completed, Ken began working, at the PT's request, on some of their clients that were not making the progress they had hoped...with amazing results! Patients that had not responded to traditional physical therapy treatments were getting better with massage! Before long, Ken was working 8 hours a day doing massage therapy as a physical therapy aide/massage therapist making a whopping $9 per hour...while the hospital billed the client's insurance $168 per hour! "Not many people have ever accused me of being a genius but even I could see something needed to change!"
Not long after this, Ken struck out on his own and hauled his massage table all over town treating his growing clientele. After about a year on the road, Ken was invited to work at the Body Therapy Center by his MT instructor, Marion Burch. He worked there for 2 years and then opened his own office, Therapy Central, in downtown Austin, with friend and fellow massage therapist, Anne Englehart. Business was great. Ken, Anne and the growing staff were usually booked weeks in advance, but Ken LIVED in Round Rock and COMMUTED to Austin daily. Finally, the daily pilgrimage through Austin rush hour traffic became something he decided he needed to live without. He found a little yellow house in Round Rock that looked promising. After securing the loan, purchasing the property and doing a few months of renovation, Therapy Central of Round Rock opened its doors.
Ken specializes in Injury Rehab and has developed P&M (Pin & Move) Myofascial Release which incorporates Myofascial Release, Deep Tissue Massage and, Trigger Point Therapy.
P&
M Myofascial Release Therapy eliminates pain by balancing the body's integrity.
"Many of the clients that are referred to us are those who have tried everything but are still in chronic pain. Our approach to treating pain has been so successful because we identify and correct the root causes of pain instead of just treating the client's symptoms."
Ken works on professional, collegiate, middle and high school athletes with
amazing results. A large percentage of his clients are athletes because athletes get hurt so often! Ken and the rest of the staff at Therapy Central treat clients with an amazing array of conditions including Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, Tinnitis, Migraine Headaches, Cluster Headaches, Back and Neck Pain, Knee and Hip pain, Plantar Fasciitis, Achilles Tendonitis, TMJ, Morton's Neuroma, Tennis Elbow, Frozen Shoulder, Scoliosis, Sprains, Strains, and aches of every description.
"The amazing thing to many is that this type of treatment hurts, people generally pay 'out of pocket', and they send their friends, family, co-workers and complete strangers who they notice are in pain to come and 'get fixed.' Our business has been built almost exclusively by word of mouth."
Ken is also a successful workshop presenter whose goal is to teach enough therapists the P&M techniques so that unnecessary surgeries and medications become a thing of the past.
"One thing that the 'traditional' medical community has forgotten is that the BODY is the healer and has an almost unlimited capacity to heal ITSELF... if it's structural integrity and blood flow and circulation are restored. THAT is what we do."
