Susan Moench, LMT, (# MT043274), was a full time P.E. teaching
assistant in Pflugerville while she attended massage school. Her passion
is with sports massage and injury rehabilitation...not surprising considering
the years she suffered from migraines and the many aches and pains and injuries
sustained as a gymnast, cheerleader and volleyball player.
Susan specializes in injury rehab and works with professional, collegiate,
middle and high school athletes all ranging from cyclists, softball players,
volleyball players, baseball players, football players, tri-athletes, marathon
runners, golfers, tennis players, soccer players basketball players, and
gymnasts..just to name a few…with GREAT RESULTS ! Although the greatest
percentage of her clients are athletes, many are housewives, desk jockeys,
farmers and students, you name it. Susan treats people with conditions including
back and neck pain, headaches, tendonitis/bursitis, Osgood-Shlatters, Severs
disease, sprained ankles, carpel tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, shin splints,
hip and knee pain, plantar fasciitis, TMJ, frozen shoulder…. THE LIST GOES
ON!
“I
have found through this work that it is not only what is done on the table,
but actually educating my clients in how to manage their body outside of
therapy. It's about changing your daily habits that have caused you to be
in this condition in the first place, and by applying the “homework” that
is given to them, they are able to maintain a pain free life, which keeps
them off of my table and helps keep money in their pockets!” Susan

“For
years, I had wanted to go to massage school, but it was always a thought
that I figured would never happen. Finally, after 2 children and needing
a change in my life, I decided to just do it, so I enrolled at The Lauterstein-Conway
School of Massage! On our first night there we sat in a circle and the instructor
said something that I will never forget. We were told that each one of us
would go through a life changing experience. I thought to myself, “Yeah
Right”. Well, I HAVE gone through MANY life changing experiences and ALL
for the better!
I
have had about 4 or 5 clients in the past year decide to go to massage school
after having been worked on. They see and feel the difference that a person
doing this type of treatment can make in someone's life. Most of those client's
will one day be working at Therapy Central, and I'm proud to have made a
difference in their life, not only physically but emotionally.
Over the past several years, my work has grown and so have I. In the beginning, I never knew what all went into being this type of therapist. The daily challenges of having EVERY client come through that door and say “FIX ME, HELP ME, I WANT TO LIVE A NORMAL PAIN FREE LIFE AGAIN, ETC.” That is when this is no longer just a physical job, but a mentally and emotionally challenging job. Being this type of therapist, I have had to really dig deep inside of myself to try and BE ALL THAT I CAN BE AS A THERAPIST TO HELP EACH PERSON . It's what I love and it's what I do and with each struggle I will grow as a therapist and will be able to help more people!! The fulfillment of taking away someone's pain, is UNBELIEVABLE !
I feel very blessed to have been given a gift (from God) that helps others!

Testimonials from some of her clients demonstrates how effective Susan's treatments are:
Susan,
Thank you for your help with my shoulder blade pain. After teaching 5 hours of consecutive yoga classes my rhomboid muscles went into spasm and several sessions of regular massage treatments provided very temporary relief. After your treatment, I felt immediate relief and increased mobility and I have resumed teaching yoga classes. Thanks again, you are amazing!
Dr. Debra Isaacs (Chiropractor, Yoga Instructor)
I truly cannot thank you enough for just being you. You are such an inspiration! When I came to see you about my shoulder (falling off my bike while training for a triathlon that was cancelled!! - Cap-Tex Tri 2007) I saw your passion for each of your clients...I saw your thoughtfulness and your willingness to go the extra mile with each of your clients. I remember once after I finished a session with you, a much older gentleman came to see you and I thought, Lord I hope she doesn't do to him what she just did to me! hahaha But, truly I thought, WOW, she can help him too. How awesome is that!
Take care,
Charla Hisler
Susan,
Thank you for all your help on my legs. The 3M half marathon was last Sunday. My time was 1:54. It was 5 minutes better than my goal and 9 minutes better than last year. I was ecstatic.
My calves are still a little tight. The left IT band is complaining also. Otherwise, I feel great.
Thanks again for all your help. Have fun planning your upcoming wedding. Congratulations.
Take care,
Krista Ledington
My
testimonial for Susan!
I'm a 39 old year old active mom and novice runner of about 10-15 miles a week for the past 18 years. In the fall of 07 I had this notion of training and completing my long time goal of running a marathon. About 2 months into my training as I approached the 10 mile marker I started having discomfort in my inner arch of my right foot, I continued running but I felt achy and unbalanced, a few weeks later it then went into to my knee and I starting experiencing deferred pain into my hip. Now my whole right side was out of sync. I became desperate for a solution, I stretched more, I changed running shoes not once but twice and bought expensive out of the box shoe inserts at a sports store, had a visit with a podiatrists who taped my arches for one of my runs, and then visited with a Orthopedic in which he referred me to physical therapy. I've been to physical therapy before and I knew physical therapy required time and patience in which I didn't have if I wanted to continue training. Feeling absolutely frustrated but more determined then ever to find a way to accomplish my goal I was referred to Susan at Therapy Central. I never had any type of sports massage in my life and I had no idea what to expect. Wow! I was in for a surprise!! There is not doubt about it….it hurts but it really…really works. Immediately after my first appointment I noticed my muscles loosen up enabling me to complete my mid week runs. After my second appointment I had virtually no more pain in my foot, knee or hip. I continued seeing Susan to help keep me loosened up through my higher 15-22 mile bench mark runs and in doing so noticed I was able to run pain free, I was faster and best of all I felt stronger when I completed my runs. Susan not only took the time to help get me back on the road to run through massage therapy but she also taught me how to target sore and tight muscles at home, how to stretch with the right form and posture, the importance of icing for me that was a biggie and to always hydrate really well. It's amazing how good our bodies feel with something as simple as good old H2O. On February 17 th I completed my goal of 26.2 miles and I honestly couldn't have done it without Susan. I feel very blessed and forever grateful that I was fortunate enough to have someone recommend me to Therapy Central. Susan is very knowledgeable, upbeat and always kept me optimistic and positive that I could do this and I did!!!
Thanks you Therapy Central and best wishes for a long and prosperous business!!!

Susan,
I have to fill you in on our "news".
When Eden was at cheer camp this summer she tried out for All Star, she
was selected. Out of about 300 they picked 40. I want
to say she won a trip to London, but she didn't actually WIN the trip but
she did win the opportunity to be in the London New Years Parade.
We leave the day after Christmas and get back Jan 2, 2009. She'll
get to do a lot of sight seeing and tours, truly a chance of a lifetime.
She's so excited about it... she's even ok with raising money to pay for
her trip. She's making beaded jewelry and baby sitting.
The memories will be unforgettable, performing in the parade, sights, meeting
new friends……….We're very proud and excited!
And your wondering why I'm telling you about this, just another thank you
for helping her out, "fixing" her ankle. She wouldn't have been
able to do this without being able to try out for cheerleading and she wouldn't
have been able to do that with a bum ankle.
Thanks Much!!!!
Jill Williams
Susan,
I want to thank you for keeping me from getting an operation or shots on my back like the doctors wanted to do. When I came to you I was on Vicodin because the pain was so excruciating I could not stand it. I could barely walk. The MRI showed a herninated L5 with a piece broke off. Your therapy and advice on my physical life style has me feeling like a New Man. I pretty much quit Pepsi...maybe one a week. I lost down to 207 from 228 hope to break [200] someday. I changed what I eat and I run/walk 1 mile at least 4 times a week. My back gets real stiff sometimes after I've sat on the combine all day but I don't have the constant pain I once did.
Thanks for everything!

"I had practically given up on finding relief for the constant pain.
Job, major personal stress and lack of physical exercise put me in a bad
way. After a few treatments, I am thrilled to say that with Susan's help,
I have experienced more pain free days in the past month than I had in the
past two years! What I most value about Susan is her compassion and dedication
to improving the quality of life of her clients - whether on the sports
field, or just everyday. The changes I have made in sleeping, drinking water
and exercise will continue.
Thank you, Susan!"
Glen Burnside, Dell software developer, Round Rock Fit Marathoner, after 1st treatment:
Hi Susan,
Well, you were right – I am sore, I do have bruises…and my leg
feels a whole lot better. I had a great run last night – I dropped
about 30 seconds off my mile pace just because I was running easier, and
had no tension or pulling in my knee. I also noticed a huge increase in
flexibility and comfort on that side while I was stretching. The ice bath
was really painful for about 5 minutes, but after that it didn’t feel
too bad (but I think I was just numb at that point.) When I woke up this
morning, I didn’t have to spend 10 minutes limping around on my bad
ankle waiting for it to loosen up. I’ll definitely be back next week
to get the right side worked out as well!
Thanks,
Glenn Burnside
Cathy - Mother to ALL, Housewife, Rancher (Westlake)
For the first time in over 4 years- I am free of the constant burning and
pain in my right foot. I have been limping around for years and I was one
doctors visit away from a very invasive foot surgery!
There is still a slight soreness if I squeeze my foot- but we still have
a little more work to do on it.
I am more flexible, and #1, my foot doesn't hurt!!
My expectations were greatly exceeded!! Susan always works her hardest to
whatever area she thinks needs it most- and as I have been in this condition
for years- I realize it is going to take a few more sessions to work all
the kinks out!
Susan truly is a healer, and has been a blessing to me!!! Cathy

(Leg Pain)
I just wanted to say THANK YOU,
YOU ARE AMAZING!! I'm with Round Rock Fit, training to do the Freescale
marathon in Feb. My calves and shins got progressively tighter and stiffer
as I trained, my ankles started to become so painful that I was about to
give up but thought I'd give Therapy Central a try. Susan was the angel
that beat the *%$@ out of my legs but the next morning when I got out of
bed it was the first time in months that I wasn't stiff and limping in the
morning. Thanks again for the great work you do and for giving me the opportunity
to continue to work toward my goal of completing the marathon. Susan you're
the best!

Training to run marathons on all seven continents. (Austin, TX.) 11/22/05
(Hip, Leg pain)
I simply had to write a note of thanks to Susan for the wonderful work she
did to totally relieve my hip pain. I’m in training to run a full
marathon on each of the seven continents; however, while preparing to achieve
this goal my IT Band and hip caused so much pain that I walked with a limp.
This problem became acute while running the San Antonio Half Marathon. Therapy
Central saw me on short notice a couple of days after the race and Susan
worked a miracle on me. After an hour of sometimes-painful deep muscle/tissue
work, I could walk with no difficulty. Moreover, she took me outside and
watched me sprint with no pain…wow! A few days later I ran the Motive
Bison Half Marathon with absolutely no problems and lowered my time by 35
minutes!
Susan and Therapy Central are truly amazing, and they will certainly be
apart of my training for the future. I highly recommend them to anyone desiring
to work, perform, and live pain free.
Thank you,
Rod Sellers

(Hip, Leg pain)
Susan, thanks so much
for helping me!!! Just from one visit my right hip is pain-free. I wanted
to slap you while you were working on me but I ran in the Cedar Perk 5-miler
2 days after my visit and had no pain whatsoever. What have I done all of
these years without you!!!
Thanks again, Faye
Susan, I
just wanted to write and say Thank you! I feel SO much better than I did
last week! My back is not aching, even in "the spot". I can turn
around better to see behind me when driving! I'm even walking differently.
It seems more free moving. (I don't know if that makes sense.)
I tried sleeping the way you showed me. Not comfortable. I am reading though
with my legs propped. I'll probably try some tennis ball work tonight.
Just wanted to let you know I don't hate you and you DID help me. I'll call
for another appt. as soon as my wallet allows! (Your prices are normal.
My budgeting skills stink!)
Talk to you soon.
Linda
Not many
of the ascent...I was too dang tired! :- )
Thanks to Susan and Ken for helping to get me ready for this run!
